for Peace
- a symbolic campaign to support
the Mind-Change Calendar...
"MOON" RIBBON Measuring time
with the movement of our beautiful white-haired grandmother moon
across our night time sky has given rise to our white ribbon
project. It is a global tsunami "wave of support" for
world peace which has become a part of usa: united safeworld
accord for peace on Earth. As a global campaign, it
is designed to encourage new paradigm, thinking in terms of nonviolence.
It is, like the Almoonac, another tool to evoke
the paradigm shift from the "headmind" of separation,
fear, violence and war to the mind of wholeness, gratitude, love
and respected diversity of our natures and cultures -celebrating
our uniqueness - like a shift to the "heartmind". A
recent study has shown that 60% of our heart is made up of the
same kind of neurological tissue found in the brain. Somehow
we always knew!
As a symbol, the white ribbon of change
is not a new idea . It seems to have had its origins in Europe
as a way to express indignation over violence perpetrated on
women and children. On a personal level it has to do with domestic
violence and the many ways abuse effects everyone, women and
children particularly. On the collective level it has to do with
violence committed in war zones, be they urban or rural battlefields
if for no other reason than they make an "untouchable"
of Mother Earth by scarring huge regions with 20s of millions
of land mines remaining from wars now over and forgotten. The
united States continues this form of warfare in 2003! Oh my!
But the good news is - carried to its highest possibility, this
"Heartmind" shift reduces the power of war and violence,
overt and subtle, to nothing more than a story of ancient history
we will one day share with our children. We are seeing it now
in the form of global public opinion. It is the power of a new
light shining!
I was strongly attracted to the white
ribbon for peace campaign during the late days of the last millennium.
There was an educated fear about the computer "turn-over
glitch" and with lots of new war technology on the market,
international tension was high. The cold war was over but the
whole world was "arming to the teeth" with weapons
sales. Everyone bought million$ from everyone - enemy - ally
alike! "Stop this nonsense!" we all wanted to cry!
White ribbons were a way to show our outrage and to express our
"innocence". Our little campaign was noticed and very
effective. After all, we did and have survived! Small acts can
have great results.
So what's next? Negotiation, dialogue,
conflict resolution, anger management programs, counseling -
all are ways we teach our children in school to work with and
resolve differences - personal, relational, collective, and global.
I can hear myself saying "Get help! - let a third person
or peer listen - you can work it out! It can be a win-win world!
... just don't hurt yourself, I love you... and if you hurt someone
else, you will surely live regretting it . Choose peace, please
- always choose peace!"
But now, as our children encounter the
real world, they see something quite different. It seems our
world leaders do not have a clue how to do any of this. We only
continue the "might makes right" paradigm and ignore
a millennium's worth of evolution of our collective consciousness,
sad to say! Values are upside down! Fear has conquered all! Deception
is hardly questioned, and it takes $20 million dollars to be
looked at seriously as a leadership candidate. And when they
ask us why, we tell them, this is the best we have come up with
so far - we the people, of this our government. What will the
world be like when the children are in power? Perhaps that is
a healthy place to begin our rebirth!
People - children, sisters, brothers,
mothers, fathers, wives and lovers have all had enough of the
ridiculous, impoverishing War Paradigm. We are praying everywhere
for all conflict to cease, and for the great cleansing that will
bring us all to our knees and eye to eye to see "another
I, another me, another you in the other." That is the meaning
of I and I, In Lake'ch, Namaste - in every tongue there is a
way to say it. "I am another you." Together then we
will find new and creative ways to live together, to harness
the light of the sun, to join our creativity - sharing land,
our religious and secular diversity, our natures and earth's
sanctity and natural resources. Intercultural exchanges of every
kind will help us we reclaim our creative relationship with time
- and once again it will become a true expression of ourselves
rather than our drive to survive... As the Mayan Dreamspell reminds
us: Time is art.
Miraculously, through the power of people
connecting through prayers and vigils around the world - our
networking of will and spirit and mind has blended and become
a voice! Together we speak as the power of light! We are here!
This neo-telepathic form of matrix we call the internet web creates
our community and brings us all together... as our white haired
grandmother weaves her ribbon of "heartmind" across
the sky and into our DNA. With the Mayans we say, "e ma
ho" It means... "Isn't it wonderful!"
So, we are here - you reading this, and
thousands of others who are, did or will. The show goes on and
the world keeps turnin' and we are having a beautiful awakening.
It is a lot to integrate. But it is why we came here in the first
place. It's a galactic experiment and we chose to participate...
or else it isn't and it's all just a game of fast hardball...

to this mindchange as we usher in the next dimension of our experience.
It has to do with the power of many change agents, cultural creatives
if you will, putting heartminds together... Change happens right
before our eyes. Together we can see the archetype of the terrorist
heart transform so it won't show up at a MacDonald massacre,
Waco Texas, Oklahoma City, Columbine USA, embassy, ship, night
club, or twin tower. The reason goes away.
In an urgency to rid ourselves of terror
we have once again missed the point - fear has overtaken us all.
This new "enemy" has brought the military budgets of
the world over the top in spending and is bringing a new capitalist
thrust that promises to diminish civilization to a one thought,
one party, one empire system. It has been so incremental that
three-quarters of the population hasn't even stopped to question
yet but it is taking us back and not forward.
Eisenhower was right when he referred
to every bomber made and every weapon purchased being a theft
from all of the possible futures we could grow together, compromising
our health, education, housing, our global resources and ecology
- our very life!
So, wear a white ribbon on your mail
box, your front door, tie one on your car antennae or refrigerator
handle - where you will notice it like a string on your finger
- a reminder to use your heartmind - no matter what, to be the
peace you want to see in the world. Someone may notice and inquire,
or perhaps a child will ask. Here is your opportunity to teach,
one by one.
The white ribbon is totally inclusive.
It indicates the full spectrum presence of every other color.
It represents the spiritual truth of grandmother moon. It says
I am innocent, I am letting go! I surrender. It means we have
had enough and will not take any more. It says "No to violence"
of every kind. And Yes, to "It is time for a change!"

Further Information: The white ribbon
movement has had support in Sweden, Canada, India, Finland, Norway,
and many places in Europe but not much in the United States.
Perhaps it's time has come. Of course a ribbon campaign of any
kind has little chance of shifting anyone's way of thinking if
the person displaying it is still conflicted over their commitment
to the "heartmind". We must be vigilant to our own
integrity so that we can be a better doorway for others to explore
this new way of thinking.
Ribbons have been associated for a long
time with different changing attitudes and behavior and for supporting
causes. Yellow shows support or affirmation like supporting the
troops abroad. Black as a band is symbolic of death or grieving.
Red shares the anger of MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Blue is often used by interfaith groups calling for an end to
war. Green is in support of the Earth and the environment.
So also, the white ribbon has become
associated with innocence and ending violence, particularly against
women and children - domestic, sexual, subtle prejudicial - those
who suffer most when sanctions are made against noncooperative
nations, and of course, recently and relentlessly, the violence
brought by wars, declared and undeclared. Our planet is in a
crisis of violence and it is time now to move the critical mass
to a new place that says "enough"! War zones are no
place for innocent women and children or civilians of any kind.
War is no place for warriors, for that matter, not in these times
when new possibilities are held before us in hope of a most amazingly
creative and positive future. Let our energy be spent putting
an end to our abuse of Mother Earth and our environments. Let
our energies put an end to all violence.
