Tohickon Creek Streambank
Stabilization
& Landowner Stewardship Project
The Delaware River Greenway Partnership
successfully obtained a grant from the Pennsylvnia Department
of Environmental Protections Growing Greener Program. The grant
was combined with funding from the United States National Park
Service to stabilize one-hundred feet of eroded streambank on
the Tohickon Creek. Volunteers helped place native vegetation
along the banks of the Tohickon in order to increase habitat
and decrease erosion and sedimentation on this tributary to the
Delaware River.
This same grant program is providing funding
to identify and involve large landowners in our public and private
partnership. The Land Stewardship Program will link landowners
with our partnering organizations in an effort to conserve land,
stabilize streambanks, and participate in a number of stewardship
opportunities provided by our partners.
