The Delaware Heritage Trail

Thanks to a grant from the William Penn Foundation, the DRGP has commenced planning and development efforts for the Trail project, started in 1997 by the NPS. Additional funding from the NJ Recreational Trails Program, The Delaware River Heritage Trail is taking shape on both sides of the Delaware River. The 60 mile trail will go through 26 communities in NJ and PA, and will include existing river side trails such as the Delaware Canal State Park in Pennsylvania.

The Heritage Trail may have both a walking path found along the river and a bike path or lande located along local roads. Additional funding from the NJ Recreational Trails Program will fund interpretive signs throughout the Delaware Heritage Trail area. The sighs will describe natural and cultural resources will be developed. Please contact Celeste Tracy, Heritage Trail Coordinator at our Burlington, NJ office for more information.
