Butterfly's mission is to provide the means and technology for the convergence
of a common indoor wireless communications platform between personal computers
and consumer electronic devices as illustrated in the following picture:
The idea is to be the central technology point for enabling the various
voice, data, control and multimedia applications that will be emerging over
the next few years in the general wireless consumer market place.
These applications will range from sharing computer peripherals to fully
automating the various communication platforms within a home, including
voice, e-mail, Internet, control functions and video. It is Butterfly's
belief that their innovative technology can be a differentiating solution
to enable the interactive requirement displayed by many of today's multimedia
applications in the home.
Butterfly's complete system approach of combining various engineering
disciplines, including RF IC design, RF systems expertise, digital baseband
processing techniques, and sophisticated real-time software for wireless
communications and operating system development provides Butterfly with
a strong, defensible position in the market place.
In addition, Butterfly's ability to integrate RF, baseband and spread
spectrum communications into very small, low-cost, and low power consumption
integrated circuits allows for a very scaleable architecture that should
help ensure Butterfly of providing advanced solutions for a number of years
