Butterfly VLSI Ltd., established in 1992, employs a staff of over 40
people, most of which are engaged in R&D activities. Butterfly VLSI
Ltd., the Corporate Headquarters and R&D center, are located in Kfar-Saba,
Israel. While, Butterfly Communications, Inc., the Sales and Marketing arm
of the company, is located in Santa Clara, California, USA.
Butterfly develops and manufactures low cost chipsets that enable indoor
Radio Frequency (RF) wireless communications. Butterfly's products target
the home and small office/home office (SOHO) environments. They achieve
a high level of performance and provide a very reliable, multi-user connection
platform, while maintaining the low cost required to compete in the consumer
markets.
Butterfly's business model is to partner with OEM's in the consumer electronics
market and identify with them their market needs. Butterfly will then support
the OEM from design concept through manufacturing utilizing Butterfly's
innovative technologies.
The company strategy is to:
- To be the leader in providing low cost, high performance chipsets for
indoor wireless interactive connectivity;
- To develop a line of products targeting different consumer market segments,
including voice, data and AV (audio+video) applications;
- To support consumer electronic OEM's from market identification through
design and manufacturing;
- To align with emerging wireless industry standards, including the HomeRFTM Working Group and Bluetooth SIG, to help proliferate
the adoption of wireless technology by the general consumer market.
